Papa Star, referred to in Densetsu no Starfy as simply the King is the father of Starfy and Starly and the ruler of Pufftop. In Densetsu no Starfy 2 and The Legendary Starfy it is revealed that he and Old Man Lobber once defeated Ogura.

In Densetsu no Starfy 4, Starfy's version of the Pufftop Clothes resembles Papa Star's clothes, but with a small white section where the gold buttons are instead of a blue section.

Before Densetsu no Starfy

Long ago Ogura caused havoc in the sea and attempted to conquer Pufftop, Papa Star along with Lobber fought against Ogura and defeated him sealing him in the Magic Jar, sometime later Papa Star married Mama Star and an unknown time later, their children Starfy and Starly were born. For years after the Ogura Incident, Pufftop had known peace, but alas it was not meant to last. One day the young prince Starfy would accidentally drop the Magic Jar that contained Ogura.

The Legendary Starfy

In this game, he does not appear during the story, but he does make a cameo in some of Pufftop's levels. In the castle's inside levels, There are some silver statues of Ronk, Papes, Snips, or all three. If Starly attacks some of these statues, she will get some Pearls and the statues will transform into a golden Papa Star statue.

In Note 12 (Old Man Lobber's Diary - "Stronger..."), Old Man Lobber thinks that Starfy may take over Papa Star's role as the king of Pufftop someday. Also according to Note 13 (Pufftop Times Clipping - "The Squirts Lift Off!"), Papa Star announced a show featuring The Squirts.

Trivia

  • Papa Star, like many old men in the series, uses the pronoun Washi in Japanese.
  • Especially in Starfy 3 and 4, Papa Star tends to get overshadowed by Mama Star, like when she explained everything about Old Castle when he wanted to, or when she let their kids go to the Amiy Kingdom, even though he said it was extremely dangerous to do so.
  • In Papa Star's younger years, he was significantly more muscular, as shown in his statue in Starfy 2, and wore a cape according to the Ogura cutscene in Misty Town (as opposed to the robes that he wears nowadays).
  • Papa Star only has Picture Book entries in Starfy 3 (Entry 200) and Starfy 4 (Entry 140).
