The pink creature is an unused character or enemy in Densetsu no Starfy 2 (index number 07). It resembles a creature similar to both a coral reef and a fish/dolphin like creature, with two large eyes and a mouth. It is also somewhat similar to a smaller version of Ruby.

The presence of the pink creature also enables a debug script, and it is included in the test stage room with water tiles that spell out "DATE CHECK PRESS L+R". As instructed, pressing L+R will check the date, by printing it in white text at the top left corner of the screen. Specifically this is a copy of part of the build date 2003/08/04 20:24:28 (this appears in unused text in the ROM image) which seems to have been truncated to just "2003/08/04 20".

It is currently unknown how the script works in the Chinese iQue prototype, where it is speculated if it still exists, the printed text could be different perhaps as "2006/06/06 10" from that version's build date (2006/06/06 10:57).
