Kittana (Nyanzo in Japan) is a ninja cat and Shurikit's main rival and friend. His first appearance was in Densetsu no Starfy 3, and he has since appeared in Densetsu no Starfy 4 and The Legendary Starfy. Unlike Shurikit he does not wear a mask. He wears an eye-patch, but because the eye-patch constantly flips he seems to wear it for fashion. He is very honorable and he takes his rivalry with Shurikit with the utmost of seriousness, although Shurikit does not take their rivalry so seriously. He was the one that originally taught Starly how to Wall Jump. In Densetsu no Starfy 4, he also appears to be friends with Coral.

In Densetsu no Starfy 3

After Torito clears his name, Starfy, Starly, and Moe continue to search for the one who was trying to eat Crawdaddy and his son by heating up the hot spring. After confronting Lovely and her friends about falsely accusing Torito, they think about anyone else suspicious before landing on "someone wearing some strange outfit" further in the area. Going to investigate, the trio meet Kittana for the first time, who was training at the time of the "crime". Though he recalls seeing someone actually suspicious not too long ago, due to being offended at being called suspicious, he refuses to say anything unless they can find weaknesses in a technique he's been practicing. If they can, he offers to teach Starly how to perform the Wall Jump, refusing to do the same for Starfy due to him knowing the technique of his rival, Shurikit. After Moe gives Starly a bag of matatabi, or silver vine, and a cattail plant to draw Kittana out of hiding, he is found in disbelief that his technique has a weak point. He then keeps true to his word, teaching Starly how to Wall Jump and giving her information after she finishes practicing the move. He tells her that he saw this "suspicious person" not too far from here, adding that Salandad lives nearby as well. Though he worries for Salandad, Starly assures him that she'll deal with whoever it is and that she'll make sure to use Kittana's technique. Wishing her the best, Kittana gives Starly the Eyepatch Stuff Item.

Post Game

Revisiting 6-3 during the post game, Kittana will voice his hatred of silver vine and foxtails, the two items Starly used to draw him out of hiding during the main game. He then loses his temper, telling Starfy or Starly not to get in the way of his training.

In The Legendary Starfy

In the game he is found in Glitzem Grotto, and challenges Starfy to the "Kittana and the Mine-Car Battle" Side Quests, consisting of Kittana and the Mine-Car Battle Part 1 (No. 13) and Kittana and the Mine-Car Battle Part 2 (No. 15). The first Side Quest requires Starfy to reach the finish of a mine car ride, whilst avoiding Kittana's 'furious attacks'. Kittana will throw bombs and spikes towards Starfy. If Starfy gets hit three times, he will fail the minigame. If Starfy succeeds, will Kittana grant the player access to Glitzem Grotto's Area Secret 1.

In the second Side Quest, Starfy must defeat Kittana by firing cannonballs at him using the Y button. He will create many illusory copies of himself which all disappear after one cannonball each, in addition to throwing bombs and spikes at Starfy. He will also occasionally throw a kitten-like enemy towards Starfy's path, which can be defeated by jumping on it via the B button. As before, Starfy is given three health points and must avoid getting hit by Kittana's attacks. If Starfy manages to defeat Kittana, he will grant the player access to Glitzem Grotto's Area Secret 3.

Name Origin
