Gaganmo
Japanese Name ガガンモ, Gaganmo
Species Probably based on a Japanese giant flying squirrel
Affiliates Starfy, Moe, Starly
Location/Residence Lobber's Cave, Turtle Turtle Land, Tree of Beginning (cameo)
First Appearance Densetsu no Starfy 2
Latest Appearance Densetsu no Starfy 4

Gaganmo is, according to Moe, a giant flying squirrel. He/she appears in Densetsu no Starfy 2, Densetsu no Starfy 3 and Densetsu no Starfy 4. In Densetsu no Starfy 2 and 3, he/she teaches Starfy and Starly how to Glide. He/she usually holds Oden and wears his/her Giant Flying Squirrel Mantle. Gaganmo lost the Oden in Densetsu no Starfy 3 and had his/her Giant Flying Squirrel Mantle damaged by Konk, so Starfy, Starly and Moe have to get new ones.

In Densetsu no Starfy 4, Gaganmo may make a minor appearance as one of the possible enemies on the Tree of Beginning map that can be tapped on the touch screen for Pearls.

Name Origin

Gaganmo's name is a reversal of the word モモンガ/鼯鼠, or the Pteromys momonga, the Japanese dwarf flying squirrel, as well as Ganmodoki, a food that the character himself loves to eat.

Trivia

  • Gaganmo uses the pronoun Boku in Japanese.
  • In Japanese, the Glide ability is referred to as the "Momonga" Jump in Starfy 1. However, starting with Gaganmo teaching Starfy the Glide, it was changed to the "Musasabi" Jump. (They both reference flying squirrels, but the latter references the Japanese giant flying squirrel instead of the dwarf flying squirrel).
