Hotarubi are allies of Starfy. They appear in pitch dark areas and will temporarily light up the area if Starfy touches or uses Star Spin on them.
Trivia
- In Densetsu no Starfy, Hotarubi will be registered in the Picture Book after completion of the game even if Starfy never touches one. This is also true for Nogo. [1]
- In all three GBA Starfy games, if Starfy attacks a Hotarubi using Star Spin, as opposed to simply touching one, then the room will stay lit up longer (about twice as long).[2]
