Hotarubi are allies of Starfy. They appear in pitch dark areas and will temporarily light up the area if Starfy touches or uses the Star Spin move on one of them.

Trivia

  • In Densetsu no Starfy, Hotarubi will be registered in the Picture Book after completion of the game even if Starfy never touches one. This is also true for Nogo. [1]
  • In all three Game Boy Advance Starfy games, if Starfy hits a Hotarubi using Star Spin, as opposed to simply touching one, then the room will stay lit up longer (about twice as long).[2]
