Herbert is a yellow hermit crab with a blue shell who lives high up in the cloudy sea of Skydye Heights. When Starfy first meets him he teaches Starfy (who he called the "Starfy lookalike") the Ultra Star Spin to help him get rid of some annoying Jellysquish.

Herbert challenges Starfy (who he now refers to correctly) to juggle 20 objects in a secret room in Skydye Heights stage 3. Accepting the challenge means that Starfy has to juggle a fish a total of 20 times within 60 seconds to win. If the fish hits the ground it will flash for a few seconds and re-appear in the middle of the room. Succeeding this challenge for the first time unlocks Skydye Height's Area Secret 2.
