Starfy using the Blimp

The Blimp is a vehicle in Densetsu no Starfy and Densetsu no Starfy 2. It looks like a hot air balloon. When using it, Starfy holds on to the rope. It is taught to Starfy by Old Man Mechani in both games.

Densetsu no Starfy

A certain door in the Coral Reef leads to a room where Starfy will meet Old Man Mechani, who will take Starfy to a quick demo where he will learn to use the Blimp.

Densetsu no Starfy 2

In Densetsu no Starfy 2, Old Man Mechani is found in Gluglug Lagoon (Stage 2-3). The Blimp can be upgraded by meeting Old Man Mechani again in the same location after defeating Ogura for the first time. The upgraded version unlocks extra secret levels in certain stages in addition to the ones unlocked after completing the main game. With the upgraded version it looks more like a mini blimp. The upgrade allows Starfy to be able to move faster by using the B button to activate its jet.

Controls

Use the control pad to move. Press the A button repeatedly to make it go higher. The blimp will fall A button is not pressed. If it collides with spikes or an enemy Starfy will panic and restart from the last room he was in.

Densetsu no Starfy 3

While not usable in Starfy 3, it is mentioned that due to the success of Mechani's two prior Blimps that he will start experimenting with balloons. However, he cannot get down from the balloon he tied himself to, and Starfy has to help him down with Mechani Genius' Pogo Stick.

Trivia

  • This ability, along with Kigurumi, are the only transformation abilities that appear in more than one game with the same name.
