Color Matching (Japanese: おいろあわせ) is a minigame in Densetsu no Starfy 2. It is unlocked by clearing Stage 5-5 (Large Tree's Forest). Gameplay involves matching pairs of three for different blocks engraved with certain shapes including 'star', 'clam' and 'circle'. The objective is to match a given number of pairs for each type of block under a time limit of thirty seconds. The game is won once all required block pairs are matched. If the time runs out the game is lost.
How to Play
Use the D-pad to move Moe and select one of nine blocks on the screen. An additional block is partially visibly at the right edge of the screen, but cannot be selected. The A button is used to fire Starfy on to an individual block, causing it to disappear and revealing the right-most block. When three or more blocks are matched together, it is counted as one pair and disappears, causing extra blocks to become adjusted from the right to fill empty space.
Required number of pairs
- 'Easy' mode: 10 - 4 blue block pairs, 4 green block pairs, 2 red block pairs.
- 'Normal' mode: 15 - 6 blue block pairs, 3 green block pairs, 6 red block pairs.
- 'Hard' mode: 20 - 7 blue block pairs, 4 green block pairs, 9 red block pairs.
