A falling Evil Flower

Evil Flowers (Japanese: じゃあくなはな), also known simply as Flowers (Japanese: はな) are obstacles in Densetsu no Starfy 4. They are found in Degil's Castle. If Starfy or Starly touches an Evil Flower, purple spiral shapes will temporarily surround Starfy or Starly that reverse the player's directions.

This means that 'right' becomes left, 'left' becomes right, 'up' becomes down, 'down' becomes up, 'B' becomes jump and 'A' becomes Star Spin. The Y button (Spill ability) is unaffected.

An Evil Flower will fall from a random position through the top of the screen until it touches Starfy or Starly or passes the bottom of the room. Only one falling Evil Flower may appear on the map at once. Another Evil Flower will appear shortly after the old one touches the player character or disappears.
