Uparu is an enemy in Densetsu no Starfy 4. It looks angry and chases Starfy or Starly when it sees them, but it doesn't react to Angler at all.
Uparu seems to be based on axolotl, a species of neotenic salamander which remain aquatic and gilled, keeping flat tails.
Trivia
- The Pokémon Wooper is also based on axolotl, as well as the Dragon Quest IX enemy wooper trooper.
Name origin
- Possibly a truncation of wooper looper (ウーパールーパー, Ūpā Rūpā), a marketing term in Japan and other countries for axolotl.
