This article is about the CD, Densetsu no Starfy. For the game, see Densetsu no Starfy.
Densetsu no Starfy c/w Boyfriend's Rookie (Japanese: 伝説のスタフィー c/w BOYFRIEND'S ROOKIE), catalog number: TOCT-4413 is a CD released on April 9, 2002 at a recommended retail price of ¥1000. It was published by Toshiba EMI, who are now known as EMI Music Japan.
Along with merchandise such as strategy guides, playing cards, stationary, stickers and the original Starfy plush toy, it was sold as a tie-in to promote Nintendo/TOSE's Game Boy Advance game Densetsu no Starfy. The CD was also advertised through a music video on the Japanese television program Oha Suta: The Super Kids Station, in which Becky made a guest appearance on the show.
The CD contains a rendition of Tone of Ocean (listed as "Densetsu no Starfy") sang by Japanese presenter and tarento Becky (ベッキー), as well as a karaoke version of the same song, without the vocals. Also included on the CD is Becky's song Boyfriend's Rookie. Prior to the release of the CD, Becky had previously sang Tone of Ocean as part of a commercial for Densetsu no Starfy. The album was arranged by Kazunori Miyake and Kotaro Kubota.
Another CD used to promote Densetsu no Starfy 2 known as Starfy no Daibōken (Japanese: スタフィーの大冒険, literally Starfy's Great Adventure) was released on September 3, 2003. The lyricist was Saya Kazuki. While Starfy no Daibōken was licensed by Nintendo and TOSE, for unknown reasons it was not promoted through the Densetsu no Starfy 2 website.
