This article lists unused content that can be found in Densetsu no Starfy 3.

Alternate Undersea Ruins bubble

The bubble

There appears to be an unused variation of the bubbles used to transform Wario into Bubble Wario in Undersea Ruins. This variation has white circles on the bubble as reflection marks unlike the used empty bubble that has curved lines as reflection marks instead. [1]

Development text

Densetsu no Starfy 3 has numerous strings of development text that can be viewed from the ROM in ANSI encoding.

Compile dates

There are nine "OptRls" messages (possibly meaning "Optimal Release") in the ROM that appear to be dates from when the game was compiled. Seven of them are unique.

Similar messages appear in Densetsu no Starfy 2 and Shrek: Hassle at the Castle (which is believed to have been developed by TOSE). [2][3][4]

The messages are as follows:

ROM Offset (hex) Message
1856E0 OptRls.2004/07/11 16:24:04
32BDD4 & 35458C OptRls.2004/07/07 22:00:03

Other text

There is some development text nearby the aforementioned compile dates. They are as follows.

In addition, the messages "MID1", "MESGbmg1", "INF1" and "DAT1" are scattered across the ROM and appear multiple times.

File Select unused content

Densetsu no Starfy 3 has some unused content that is stored with the File Select tiles. All the content here except for the Starfy artwork is shared with Densetsu no Starfy 2, although the tiles are designed differently between the versions.

14 Stage numbers

11-14

Graphics exist on the Densetsu no Starfy 3 File Select screen for numbers up to 14, even though there are only ten stages. Note that this data is also present in Densetsu no Starfy 2.

Artwork of Starfy

The Starfy artwork

There appears to be artwork of Starfy stored with the File Sleect tiles that can be viewed starting from character base 0x6008000.

Frame

There is an orange/red frame with a white picture of Starfy inside it. The purpose of the frame is unclear.

Unused Jojiro's Shop actions

Once the player purchases every item from Jojiro's Shop, they can make a Sand Snark perform four tricks that can be seen when the Product List is raised. Four additional options appear to be unused, featuring Lovely, Lovelove, Loverin and Savako. They can be accessed by changing the cursor on the Items List by altering the memory address 020045F6h. Each event comes with a comment from Jojiro like the used options. Below is a table with screenshots of each event with Jojiro's comments.

Note that if the player selects the non-existing 9th item (08h), they will receive the message "うおお! なにいってんだオレは! おきゃくさまはカミサマだろ~が!!". It is unclear if this is valid. The first two sentences come from the message for refusing to buy an item.

Unused Moe's House option

Memories of the Trip

There is an unused option in Moe's House called "Memories of the Trip" (Japanese: たびの思い出) that can viewed by changing the memory address 02004498h to 04 before entering Moe's House. Like "Mom's Photo" and the "Ruby Poster" it is not selectable. It has the description "..うっ...なんでもねえよ!目にゴミがはいっただけだ" but this description is shared with invalid options as well. The speech bubble points to the bottom-right corner of the room. Its value proceeds 03 (Sea Jams), suggesting that it is the next option from the Sea Jams clockwise.
