The Wii U is a video game console and home console produced by Nintendo, as the successor to the Wii.
It features a controller with a Touch Screen known as the Wii U GamePad, which can offer an experience known as "asymmetrical gameplay" in which the player can experience different elements of the gameplay than on the TV, or simply serve as a second screen for the TV.
The Wii U also supports motion control via Wii Remotes and is backwards compatible with Wii games, but not Nintendo GameCube games.
Although no new The Legendary Starfy games were released for the Wii U, the Game Boy Advance games Densetsu no Starfy, Densetsu no Starfy 2 and Densetsu no Starfy 3 were re-released for Wii U Virtual Console in Japan, as was Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (worldwide, which featured a cameo of Starfy), all with their own Miiverse communities.
Furthermore, Starfy makes minor appearances in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as a trophy, Assist Trophy and profile icon, and the Wii U version of the Mario series game Super Mario Maker featured its own Event Course based on the The Legendary Starfy series and a Starfy Mystery Mushroom Costume Mario, which can be unlocked for use outside of the course by clearing it.
The Wii U was succeeded by the Nintendo Switch.
