Wario is a character who first appeared in the Mario series as Mario's rival, then starred in his own series, such as the WarioWare series and the Wario series. He made a cameo in the Japan-only Densetsu no Starfy 3, and helps Starfy get through Stage 8 (Undersea Ruins). Wario also appeared in the crossover game Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a newcomer.
History
Densetsu no Starfy 3
Wario made a cross-over appearance in Densetsu no Starfy 3, where he helps Starfy throughout Undersea Ruins (Stage 8) with his transformations from Wario Land 4. It is treated almost as if Wario winded up in Undersea Ruins throughout his adventures in Wario Land 4. In Stage 8-1, he arrives via a large purple portal like every stage in Wario Land 4, and with the help of Starfy he must locate the Frog Switch, and four boss door gems in order to escape.
He is greedy by nature, as shown in Stage 8-4 when he rushes into Gachatakkoru's chamber for treasure, only to be kicked out of the room. At the end of Stage 8-1, he apparently finds no need for Starly and Moe and uses his Dash Attack to throw them out of the area. After completing every level in Stage 8, Wario gives Starfy four different treasures: a Wario cap, a Wario mustache/nose, a Game Boy Advance with a copy of WarioWare, Inc., and a pile of gold.
Stage 8-1
This level introduces statues which Starfy must use his Star Spin on to set Wario alight and transform him into Flaming Wario in order to break fire blocks blocking his path throughout the way. Unlike the Wario Land series, Flaming Wario will only extinguish when he touches the fire block, and he will otherwise stay alight for an unlimited amount of time. Starfy must use his Star Spin to hit bridges, so that when Flaming Wario is standing over them, it will make him jump and allow him to jump from lower ground floors to higher ground floors. Later, Starfy finds one of the four boss door gems and Starfy happily trades it with Wario for treasure. Wario by nature apparently finds no need for Starly and Moe and uses his Dash Attack to throw them out of the area.
Stage 8-2
This level introduces Bubble Wario, and Starfy must help Wario swim down pools of water throughout the ruins without getting trapped within a bubble and floating back to the top. In order to pop a bubble, Starfy simply needs to attack it using his Star Spin. Later, Starfy must help Wario swim upwards and use his bubble form to rise through strong currents. Since Starfy recently acquired the Ultra Star Spin, he has no problem swimming through the currents himself. Starfy must stay on top of Bubble Wario and push him throughout the area, whilst avoiding spikes which will pop Bubble Wario and revert him back to his normal form. At the end of this stage, Starfy trades another one of the boss door gems with Wario for treasure.
Stage 8-3
In this level, Wario finds the next boss door gem by himself near the beginning of the area. Wario has to Ground Pound through tough blocks and Starfy has to follow him. Wario teaches Starfy the Shooting Star ability, so that Starfy is able to do the same. Later, Wario and Starfy find the fourth gem and Wario hastily hits the Frog Switch and runs off to locate and battle Gachatokkoru. However, Wario occasionally waits up for Starfy for example at the spike room. Meanwhile, the screen returns to Starly and Moe who are frustrated for what Wario did to them. Moe turns angry and runs after Wario, after which Moe arrives first and Starly has to navigate through a side-scrolling room to reach Wario. Wario appreciates Starly's effort and gives her some treasure as well, but doesn't pay much attention to Moe.
Stage 8-4
Wario, Starfy, Starly and Moe arrive at the boss door at a large, metropolis like area of the stage. Suddenly, Moe's father Kyorozo appears and shouts at Wario and chases him around the area. He manages to confiscate Wario's gems, and everyone runs after Kyorozo. Starfy and Wario must navigate through four rooms to relocate Kyorozo. At the end of each room, Wario and Starfy find Kyorozo, and Wario throws Starfy at Kyorozo to retrieve the four gems, that he lost one at a time.
The top right and bottom right rooms involve Bubble Wario, where as the top left room introduces Puffy Wario. In the top left room, a Kachitsuki flies across the screen and inflates Wario, turning him into Puffy Wario. Like what Starfy did with Bubble Wario, he must jump on top of Puffy Wario and navigate him up the room whilst avoiding any platforms or spikes in the way. If Puffy Wario hits a platform or spike, he will pop, though strangely, he will later inflate again without the need of another Kachitsuki. The bottom left room leads to another Flaming Wario room and later a room for Starfy to use his Kigurumi ability to use a few Lurchins and Liftwisp as platforms.
When Wario retrieves all of the gems, he rushes into Gachatakkoru's room for treasure but later gets kicked out of the room as if he failed the boss battle. Starfy manages to defeat Gachatakkoru, with the help of the Shooting Star ability which Wario had taught him earlier.
