DS Mascot (Japanese: DSマスコット) is a series of gashapon toys based on Nintendo DS games and consoles, produced by Yujin[1]; a company that merged into Takara Tomy Arts, with Hartland, Subarudō and Yūmei. There are five sub-series. All items in the DS Mascot series are based on Nintendo published games.
The first selection, "Nintendogs DS Mascots" (Japanese: Nintendogs DSマスコット), released in June 2005 feature a phone strap attached to a Nintendog toy and Nintendo DS. There are six different Nintendogs and five unique Nintendo DS colors.
Soon after, the items were made to be based on miniature Nintendo DS consoles and game boxes attached to a phone strap, rather than game characters, and a new sub-series was formed, called Nintendo DS Software Collection. DS Mascot 2 (Japanese: DSマスコット2); the first entry in the Nintendo DS Software Collection was released in October 2005, with ten possible Nintendo game boxes.[2][3]
DS Mascot 3 (Nintendo DS Software Collection 2), featuring another ten game boxes was released in February 2006.[4] Nintendo DS Lite Mascot (Nintendo DS Software Collection 3), based on the Nintendo DS Lite console and featuring six game boxes, was released in July 2006.[5] Nintendo DS Lite Mascot 2 (Nintendo DS Software Collection 5), featuring eight games, was released in February 2007. [6]
Densetsu no Starfy 4 version
The Densetsu no Starfy 4 version is part of the Nintendo DS Lite Mascot series. The Densetsu no Starfy 4 Nintendo DS Lite Mascot is part of Nintendo DS Software Collection 4.
The Densetsu no Starfy 4 Nintendo DS Lite Mascot features an "Ice Blue" (Japanese: アイスブルー) Nintendo DS Lite. When it is opened, a screenshot of Starfy in Cupid Village (Stage 3-2) can be seen on the top screen, as well as the area's map. The miniature game box can be opened too, and contains a small 'Game Card' and a slot to hold a 'Game Boy Advance' game, like in the real box. The Game Card is fake and cannot be taken out.

Similar Nintendo DS/game case phone straps
There is a similar series of Nintendo DS/Nintendo DS game case phone straps called Nintendo DS Mini Figure & DS Card Case Twin Straps (Japanese: NINTENDO DS ミニフィギュア&DSカードケース ツインストラップ) produced by Banpresto.
Two successors were made, one called Nintendo DS Mini Figure & DS Card Case Twin Strap 2 and another successor called Nintendo DS Lite Mini Figure & DS Card Case Twin Strap. The latter was released in February 2007 and features a small figure of a Nintendo DS Lite instead of a Nintendo DS. The Nintendo DS Lite figures come in different colors including red, light-blue, grey, white, black and pink. [7]
