Starfy being pushed against a current in Deep Sea, in Densetsu no Starfy.

Currents (Japanese: すいりゅう) are a recurring gameplay mechanic in The Legendary Starfy series.

When Starfy or Starly faces a current, it will push them forward or back in the direction of the current. Sometimes Starfy or Starly can Turbo Swim against the current using the Mighty Star Spin, though other currents cannot be passed through by any means.

The appearance of a current may depend on the Stage it is found. For example, the 'currents' inside the Whale in Stranded Whale look significantly different to other currents.

In Densetsu no Starfy, using a water current switches can temporarily disable a current until the lever on the switch turns back.
