Perry (Kassar in Japan) is a magic talking umbrella who appears in Super Princess Peach. He claims to know everything about the mysterious Vibe Island. Perry was originally a boy with strange powers, but in a middle of a walk with his friend "grandpa", he was transformed into a parasol by a magician and a large minion, both who most likely worked for Bowser. The minion took Perry, but dropped him on the way back to his leader.

For various days, no one picked up Perry until a merchant found him and thought he was special. Some time afterwards he was taken into a shop, and the merchant gave him away to an old man called Toadsworth for free. Toadsworth later gave Perry to Princess Peach, thinking that he would come in handy in her adventure.

None of Perry's blood relatives are ever mentioned, however, while on a mountain he met an old man he likes to call "grandpa". Grandpa took Perry to his house and was happy to meet him because he lived alone. Perry loved him, and he took walks with him and helped the old man work.

There are special blocks called Perry Blocks that give hints to Princess Peach when hit.

In Densetsu no Starfy 4

In Densetsu no Starfy 4, Perry is part of the Special Princess and Umbrella in the Stuff. Princess and Umbrella was one of the winning designs from the Wanted Kisekae contest, where designs for Stuff submitted to Nintendo had a chance of making it into the final game. It was designed by Eriko Kawashima.

Princess and Umbrella

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Perry appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and in two stickers, which include a "Peach" sticker and a "Perry" sticker. In the "Peach" sticker, Princess Peach is seen holding Perry. The sticker increases weapon power by 23 in the The Subspace Emissary. The "Perry" sticker shows artwork of Perry and increases direct special damage by 6 in The Subspace Emissary.

Multiple filenames in Super Smash Bros. Brawl suggest that Peach was originally going to use Perry as her parasol weapon. The model for Peach's ordinary umbrella is named "WpnPeachKassar" (Kassar is the Japanese name of Perry). Furthermore, the filenames for the textures of the Perry trophy follow the naming conventions for Peach's textures. [1]
