The Densetsu no Starfy 4 Nintendo DS Lite Mascot

DS Mascot (Japanese: DSマスコット) is a series of gashapon toys based on Nintendo DS games and consoles, produced by Yujin[1]; a company that has now merged into Takara Tomy Arts, with Hartland, Subarudō and Yūmei. There are at least five sub-series. All items in the DS Mascot series are based on mainly Nintendo published games.

It was succeeded by the Nintendo 3DS Miniature Mascot (Japanese: Nintendo 3DS ミニチュアマスコット) series, produced by Takara Tomy Arts.

The first selection, "nintendogs DS Mascots" (Japanese: Nintendogs DSマスコット), released in June 2005 feature a phone strap attached to a Nintendog toy and Nintendo DS. There are six different Nintendogs and five unique Nintendo DS colors.[2]

Soon after, the items were made to be based on miniature Nintendo DS consoles and game boxes attached to a phone strap, rather than game characters, and a new sub-series was formed, called Nintendo DS Software Collection. DS Mascot 2 (Japanese: DSマスコット2); the first entry in the Nintendo DS Software Collection was released in October 2005, with ten possible Nintendo game boxes.[3]

DS Mascot 3 (Nintendo DS Software Collection 2), featuring another ten game boxes was released in February 2006.[4] Nintendo DS Lite Mascot (Nintendo DS Software Collection 3), based on the Nintendo DS Lite console and featuring six game boxes, was released in July 2006.[5] Nintendo DS Lite Mascot 2 (Nintendo DS Software Collection 5), featuring eight games, was released in February 2007. [6]

Though there is a Nintendo DS Software Collection 5 series, oddly a Nintendo DS Software Collection 4 series does not appear to exist, unless it is poorly documented.

The miniature game box can be opened too, and contains a small 'Game Card' and a slot to hold a 'Game Boy Advance' game, like in the real box. The Game Card is fake and cannot be taken out.
