- September 11, 2014 - gema_yue revealed on their their Twitch channel that Starfy appears as a profile icon in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, among other Assist Trophies. He/she, and other streamers had acquired a copy of the Japanese game shortly before its official release date.
- September 1/2, 2014 - Starfy re-appears as a regular trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. This was revealed in an All-Star Mode screenshot posted on Miiverse by director Masahiro Sakurai.
- June 10/June 11, 2014 - Starfy appears in action in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, during E3 2014 demo footage and is fully confirmed as an Assist Trophy that seems to work the same way as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but with his Confrontation with the Boss based jingle removed.
