:I remember having a LOT of trouble finding a translation for this name. I even had to get help from someone back when I first added this article and it still didn't make sense once I got an answer. I didn't mention that 'numa" was was in the name though. Maybe if I did, I would've gotten a better answer. Name origin
I'm fairly sure 'ひきさきぬま' refers to how the lake/pond/swamp kind of resembles a tear in the landscape (not the liquid but like a tear after pulling something apart) but this is an educated guess. If you look at it from the Stage Select or the City, it forms a 'C' like shape. I think your translation may have been out of context, as according to here, 'hikisaki' also means to tear up.
