This article lists unused content that can be found in Densetsu no Starfy 3.

Alternate Undersea Ruins bubble

The bubble

There appears to be an unused variation of the bubbles used to transform Wario into Bubble Wario in Undersea Ruins. This variation has white circles on the bubble as reflection marks unlike the used empty bubble that has curved lines as reflection marks instead. [1]

Development text

Densetsu no Starfy 3 has numerous strings of development text that can be viewed from the ROM in ANSI encoding.

Compile dates

There are nine "OptRls" messages (possibly meaning "Optimal Release") in the ROM that appear to be dates from when the game was compiled. Seven of them are unique.

Similar messages appear in Densetsu no Starfy 2 and Shrek: Hassle at the Castle (which is believed to have been developed by TOSE). [2][3][4]

The messages are as follows:

ROM Offset Message
1856E0 OptRls.2004/07/11 16:24:04
32BDD4 & 35458C OptRls.2004/07/07 22:00:03
380480 & 3D0D20 OptRls.2004/07/07 22:01:02
3A7604 OptRls.2004/07/07 22:01:32
3EC980 OptR.ls.2004/ 07.. 22:0.0:15
3F4734 Opt.Rls.2004./07.. 22:.00:45
40C7DD Opt.Rls.2004./07.. 22:.02:14

Other text

There is some development text nearby the aforementioned compile dates. They are as follows.

ROM Offset Message
18578A MULTI LOAD SAMPLE
32BDF0, 3545A8, 38049C, 3D0D3C, 3A7620 MultiSioSync4Sio32Load020820

3EC9CD MultiSio Sync4 32 Load0208

In addition, the messages "MID1", "MESGbmg1", "INF1" and "DAT1" are scattered across the ROM and appear multiple times.

File Select unused content

Densetsu no Starfy 3 has some unused content that is stored with the File Select tiles. All the content here except for the Starfy artwork is shared with Densetsu no Starfy 2, although the tiles are designed differently between the versions.

14 Stage numbers

11-14

Graphics exist on the Densetsu no Starfy 3 File Select screen for numbers up to 14, even though there are only ten stages. Note that this data is also present in Densetsu no Starfy 2.

Artwork of Starfy

The Starfy artwork

There appears to be artwork of Starfy stored with the File Sleect tiles that can be viewed starting from character base 0x6008000.

Frame

There is an orange/red frame with a white picture of Starfy inside it. The purpose of the frame is unclear.
