The game spawned two sequels, ''[[mariowiki:Donkey Konga 2\|Donkey Konga 2]]'' and the Japan-only ''[[mariowiki:Donkey Konga 3\|Donkey Konga 3: Tabe-houdai! Haru Mogitate 50 Kyoku]]''.

	It is one of four GameCube games that make use of the [[wikipedia:DK Bongos\|DK Bongos]]. These are special bongo-like controllers that can be played like drums.
