Starly (known as Stapy in Japan) is Starfy's younger sister and a major character in The Legendary Starfy series. She made her first appearance in Densetsu no Starfy 3, and is usually quite rude and always pushes Moe and Starfy to their limits to do something, although more responsible than Starfy. Only she can perform Crawls, Wall Jumps, Low Spins and the Pufftop Barrier Spill ability.
History
Before Densetsu no Starfy 3
Somtime after Starfy was born in Pufftop Kingdom to Papa Star and Mama Star, his sister Starly was born. She did not go on an adventure when Ogura was freed from the Magic Jar the first two times, but when Evil sets Ogura free by destroying the Magic Jar, is the time that Starly would have her first adventure with Starfy and Moe.
Densetsu no Starfy 3
After Ogura escapes Pufftop, Starly interrupts Papa Star and Moe's conversation. Moe had never seen Starly before, so she introduced herself as Starfy's younger sister. Eventually she decides to join Starfy and Moe on their quest to find Ogura. She then pushes them both to the sea and jumps to join them.
In Lobber's Cave's Area 4, Starfy, and Moe meet Konk again while Starly meets him for the first time. Konk attacks Moe and Starly sending them flying away from Starfy and he has to find them. Starly finds herself alone and she tries to get back to Starfy and Moe, on her way back she meets Yggdra-jii who tells her that he saw Ogura flying towards the Coral Coast. Later Starly overhears Konk say that while he looks cool under a spotlight, it makes him too hot to wear his protective helmet. Getting an idea Starly keeps it over him despite Konk's attempts to move out of it making him lose the helmet and Starly getting it. Unfortunately, Konk notices her and he corners her. But just as Konk is about to hurt Starly unless she gives him back his helmet, Starfy and Moe appear scaring Konk into the boss room and rescuing Starly. Konk fights Starfy again, but he loses again because without his helmet, he is vulnerable to Starfy's star spins again.
Later in Misty Town’s Area 2, Starly and Moe are oblivious that knives and chairs are aiming right for them, Starfy however notices and he pushes them out of the way only for him to get trapped by the cutlery and furniture himself. Starly rescues Starfy by blowing up the objects with a bomb. Later in Area 3 when Starfy, Starly and Moe catch up with Mad Piero, he gives a treasure chest to Starfy but it is really a trap and it imprisons Starfy. Mad Piero then takes the treasure chest and hides in Area 4, essentially kidnapping Starfy. Starly has to rescue him again by attacking the treasure chest enemy that has Starfy in it.
Then in Kachiwari Iceberg's Area 1, Starfy and Starly find Saint Naks sack of presents but they get into an argument over who will deliver it, Starly storms off and goes on her own, then in Area 3 she says she will catch Ogura all by herself but, when she hears that a Taruika is trapped in a room full of strong currents and she tries to help it, when she gets to the same room as it, she realizes that she is trapped as she can't fight the strong currents and she cries. Later Starfy rescues her from the currents and Starly apologizes for arguing with him and they both decide to work together as a team and no longer fight with each other.
Densetsu no Starfy 4
After Mattel tells Starfy and friends about the trouble at the Amiy Kingdom, Starly talks about Ruby to Moe. She was most likely trying convince him to help her and Starfy save the Amiy Kingdom to impress Ruby. Later, all three of them return to the sea.
The Legendary Starfy
In The Legendary Starfy, players can join one another, one of them playing as Starly. Starly has special moves players playing as Starfy cannot learn or use, such as jumping off of walls. She appears smaller (in-game) than Starfy, and is always seen wearing her pink bow. To access playing as Starly, Moe will ask Starfy if he wants Starly to join them. Players can also choose to "be" Starly via the select button to change the character shown in the Stuff menu, though this will not change the actual character in game.
Starly is featured in a mini-game called "Dumpling Master". She and the player make dumplings to give to Starfy, who then feeds them to Moe. She also makes two small appearances in other mini-games. One is after the results are shown for "Coin Slinger". She can also be seen in the audience of stars. Another is in Fishing Derby. She puts bait in the water and Moe comes. Starly will be the only pink one wearing her signature bow.
After defeating the final boss, a new world will open up. It is Pufftop, and the player character is Starly in this world.

In the Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Starly appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as both a collectable trophy and sticker (then referred to by the official romanization of her Japanese name, as "Stapy") using her artwork from Densetsu no Stafy 3 with the ability of increasing a fighter's indirect attacks by 4. According to the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, she speaks using the Kansai dialect. For the North American version, this was changed to say "Kansai accent".

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Starly appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit. She is an advanced-class primary neutral spirit using her artwork from The Legendary Starfy. Starly's ability decreases the fighter's weight, and her spirit can be found in the light side of the final battle in World of Light. Her spirit battle is on the battlefield form of the Tortimer Island stage against a red bow Jigglypuff with temporary invincibility.
Trivia
- In Densetsu no Starfy 3 and Densetsu no Starfy 4, Starly's bow is always on her left side, but in The Legendary Starfy, it flips when she turns.
- Starly shares the same English name as a Pokémon.
- She has never had her exclusive abilities taught to her by the same character twice.
- In Densetsu no Starfy 4, Starfy can wear her bow in the Stuff.
- In The Legendary Starfy, she does not forget how to use her exclusive abilities.
- She looks similar to the Pufftop Kids in terms of color.
- This is supported by the fact that her name in Starfy 3's opening is テンカイコドモのおんなの子, or literally "Female Pufftop Kid"
- In Starfy 3, after seeing Saint Nak's red and white suit, Starly says that he looks just like Santa, implying that Santa may be a figure known to Pufftop denizens as a whole.
