Wotsaruto is a blue fish musician that appeared in the first four The Legendary Starfy series games and only had a story role in the first three. He/She usually plays the Tone of Ocean, but also plays a saxophone in Densetsu no Starfy 3.

Wotsaruto's gender is debatable. While he/she wears a bow tie that is stereotypically worn by males and uses the word 'boku' to refer to his/herself that is normally used by young males, Wotsaruto's playing card in the Densetsu no Starfy Trumps is a queen, suggesting Wotsaruto is possibly female.

Wotsaruto makes a cameo appearance in Densetsu no Starfy 4 where he/she can be touched in the level select of Dejiru's Castle for 5 Pearls.

In Densetsu no Starfy

Starfy and Moe meet Wotsaruto in Deep Sea (Stage 5). Wotsaruto and Moe both tell Starfy that Wotaruto's Tone of Ocean has been stolen. A flashback plays where Wotsaruto shows Moe the Tone of Ocean only to have it stolen by Blantern and two Buranko after the stage turns dark. The Tone of Ocean is then hidden in a large side-scrolling room with arrow buttons which change the direction that the screen is scrolling when Starfy uses Star Spin on them, depending on the direction that the arrows are facing. After locating the missing Tone of Ocean instrument, Wotsaruto badly plays the song of the same name. This shocks Starfy and Moe, but it also frightens off a pair of Nogo that were blocking Starfy and Moe's path.

Wotsaruto also appears in the background of the sound test after completion of the main game. Selecting any option on the sound test will show Wotsaruto playing the Tone of Ocean.

In Densetsu no Starfy 2

In Pitch Dark Cave

Starfy and Moe meet Wotsaruto again in Pitch Dark Cave (Stage 6-1), where he/she talks to Moe. Wotsaruto has a flashback, where the ground shakes and Puchi Ogura #6, wearing a Kigurumi appears and threatens Wotsaruto, making him/her flee. Later, in the present, the ground shakes and Puchi Ogura #6 wearing the Kigurumi appears in person. He then runs off and kidnaps Wotsaruto.

Starfy and Moe later catch up with Puchi Ogura #6. Puchi Ogura #6 talks to Wotsaruto for a short while, before grabbing Wotsaruto and walking off with him/her. After catching up with Kigurumi again, Moe intervenes and challenges Kigurumi. Moe shouts something very loudly, causing the area to shake itself and rocks to fall from the ceiling. This frightens not only Kigurumi, but also Starfy and Wotsaruto to the extent that Puchi Ogura #6 drops the Kigurumi and reveals himself to Moe, Starfy and Wotsaruto and flees, revealing a Key which opens several keyholes around the area, one of which leads to the treasure chest containing the Kombu Mawashi at the end of the Stage 6-1.

In Moe's House

After defeating Ogura for the first time, a sound test option is available in Moe's House. When music is played, Wotsaruto appears to be playing it with the Tone of Ocean, and Moe appears to be singing the song.

In Densetsu no Starfy 3

Starfy, Starly and Moe meet Wotsaruto in Gabun Ocean Trench (Stage 7-3) where he/she is playing the Tone of Ocean. He/she claims that a lullaby from the Tone of Ocean is able to put someone to sleep but it doesn't work on putting Gabun to sleep, shocking Wotsaruto.

Starly suggests one would be tired to hear the same song over and over again. Wotsaruto suggests that he/she and Starfy, Starly and Moe should form a "Legendary Band" (Japanese: でんせつのバンド) in which legendary instruments (Japanese: でんせつのがっき) are to be played, so Wotsaruto leaves them to locate three legendary instruments. They find the Legendary Guitar, the Legendary Bass and the Legendary Drums and form a rock band. Gabun enjoys the music a lot and it causes him to fall asleep.

Starfy (down), Starly (left), Moe (up) and Wotsaruto (right) form the Legendary Band and rock out for Gabun in Densetsu no Starfy 3.

In Densetsu no Starfy 4

Wotsaruto does not appear in the story. However, he/she can seen in the level selection screen of Dejiru's Castle. Tapping him/her will give the player five Pearls.

In the manga (Yumiko Sudō)

Although Wotsaruto doesn't appear in the story, he/she can be seen among an audience in volume 2.
